Taos Weather and Climate Within a teamster hour of the town of Taos an enormous range of terrain and elevation and therefore weather and climate can be found. Elevations range from below 6000' to over 13,000' and temperature and conditions can change rapidly. Taos' weather is as varied as its landscape. While New Mexico is considered a southern state in terms of latitude, bordering Texas and Arizona to the east and west, and Mexico to the south, Taos' high elevation provides for the four seasons. This combination allows for summer production to be cool and winter production to be filled with sunshine. The following chart is based on conditions in the Town of Taos, at just under 7000'.
Tax Break Incentives New Mexico Gross Receipts Tax Nontaxable Transaction Certificate (NTTC) Program for Film Production Companies What does it mean to you, the production company? Basically it is more than 6% reduction in your production costs at he point of purchase for goods and services purchased or leased in the state of New Mexico. What is Gross Receipts Tax? It is a tax levied on the privilege of doing business in New Mexico. The tax is imposed on the gross amount received by the seller for tangible goods, services, rentals, and some intangibles including licenses. The tax is owed by the seller, but is usually passed on to the buyer by the seller. The deduction allows persons selling property and services or leasing property to "qualified production companies" to be free of the tax through the Nontaxable Transaction Certificate Program (NTTC). NTTC's are certificates that are issued to qualified production companies by the N.M. Taxation and Revenue Department. The production company can then present an NTTC to the vendor or lessor enabling the production to purchase goods and services without paying the Gross Receipts Tax. The buyer need only deliver an NTTC to the vendor once to make it valid for all subsequent transactions. What Production Goods and Services Can Be Freed From Gross Receipts Taxes? According to the state law "production costs" include: the cost of a story or scenario to be used for a film; salaries of talent, management and labor (labor on payroll do not need the NTTC, their salaries are already exempt); set construction, wardrobe, accessories and related services; sound, lighting, and grip services; editing, rental of facilities and other equipment and related and direct costs of producing a film. How do You Obtain NTTC Certificates? As in most government programs it will take a little effort on your part to receive the benefits of the Film Production Companies' NTTC program. There are three (3) forms that must be properly filled out to receive your certificates. All three forms are provided in a packet upon request. The following is a list of the forms which you can view samples of: 1.The New Mexico Film Office Film Production Companies' NTTC Registration Form. 2.The New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department Registration Form.
